Think that Eating Meat Causes High Cholesterol? Think AGAIN!

Protein types need red meat to be healthyOne of my clients just got her nutrition profile, and found out that she was a Fast Oxidizer – Thyroid type. And this is one of the types that requires animal protein and fat to be their healthiest.

Of course, she was concerned. She asked me, “Does this diet of meats and fats increase the cholesterol levels?”

I think that’s a common misconception – the idea that a diet of meat and fat causes cholesterol for everyone. While a diet of a lot of meat and fat might cause cholesterol problems for some Metabolic Types, it definitely DOES NOT for her.

Many people mistakenly think that high-purine proteins (like beef, organ meats, and dark meat chicken) are unhealthy. However, certain Metabolic Types like hers require high-purine proteins, and metabolize them differently. These meats will usually not raise cholesterol in and of themselves for her Metabolic Type, as long as there are no outside factors affecting her diet or health.

So you see, it all comes down to knowing your REAL Metabolic Type. Knowing your REAL type helps you understand how different foods either create imbalance or balance in your particular body.

    My question to you is. I have high cholesterol i was given zocor last year, took it for a month and threw them out. my cholesterol reading was 236. when i took red yeast my cholesterol went up…..i dont understand that one. However, i would like to get my cholesterol down to where its safe. any suggestions i can do or avoid. as of now i dont eat meat, icecream, cheese. i also lost about 5 lbs.

    I’m sorry that I’m not able to give you specific advice on what to eat. As you know, we are all unique and require different foods and nutrients in the right ratios to be our healthiest. Since we don’t know your metabolic type, there would be no way to know what foods would work best for you.
